About Department   The Department was established during the 7th plan period and started functioning from September 1993. The Department has been training students for M.Sc. in Aquatic Biology and for the research degrees namely M.Phil. and Ph.D. The Department has got three teaching staff members. Degree in Aquatic Biology includes two academic year course viz., M.Sc.-I and M.Sc.-II. The curriculum includes total eight theory papers, practicals, fieldwork, excursion and dissertation based on original piece of work carried out by the student. Exposure to fields and visits to various organisations shall help the students in gaining practical knowledge. Practicals – VI Dissertation and field visits. Intake of Students: Eco System 8 students are admitted every year to the M.Sc. Part – I. Eligibility: A candidate who has passed B.Sc. examination with Zoology or Botany as Principal subject shall be eligible to apply for admission in M.Sc. Aquatic Biology Course. Also students who have studied Bachelor’s degree with Biosciences (Botany or Zoology as subsidiary subject) Microbiology (Botany or Zoology as subsidiary subject and students with Bachelor’s degree in Fishery Science are also eligible to join M.Sc. Aquatic Biology. M.Phil and Ph.D. : The department also offeres M.Phil and Ph.d. in the these fields of Specialisation : Algology, Ecology, Hydrobiology, Pollution Biology and Fishery Biology. Fees Structure: As per the University Rules Equipments: All instruments required for M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programme viz., pH meter, Colorimeter, Spectrophotometer, Centrifuge, Oven, Incubator, Water-bath, Hot plate, Autoclave, Single pan balance, Microscopes and Photo-Microscope are available in the Department.   Laboratory: Only one Laboratory for M.Sc. and for Research are available.
