The M.C.A. programme aims to train the students as
System Managers and Analysts for Computer managed Systems in Industries and Government
Organizations. The D.C.A. programme aims at producing efficient computer programmers
through a course of shorter duration.
The department had also been offering direct entry into 2nd Year M.C.A., to a few bright
students who had completed D.C.A. programme, on the basis of a special test for the
purpose. This Programme, however, has now been discontinued.

Back/Up
For the benefit of those graduates who can not join a
course during daytime regular hours, a part time ( evening ) D.C.A. programme has been
started from academic year 1998-99. The part-time programme is a three-semester programme,
last three months of which are devoted by the students to Project work done in an
Industry/Organization. The D.C.A. ( evening ) programme will be run on a Cost-Sharing
basis and, therefore, these students will have to pay higher fees.
Some courses as, in regular DCA, given above shall be taught in DCA (
Evening ) Programme. The courses will normally be given between 6.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.
from Monday to Saturday. The semester wise breakup of courses is as follows.

The admission to M.C.A., D.C.A. and D.C.A.( evening )
programmes are done on the basis of
(i) Entrance Test conducted by the University.
(ii) Personal Interview
The candidates who want to be considered for admission to more than one
courses
should indicate their order of preference in the application form( Three times
the
number of seats for each category will be called for the interview based on the merit
of
the Entrance test. ).
(iii) Selection of the candidates will be based on
the joint performance in (I) and
(ii) above.
Graduate degree in any faculty
from a recognized University with atleast 50 % marks.
The general reservation policy adopted by the university will be followed for the
admission of all courses.

The Students will be required to pay the following fees per semester.( These schedule of
fees are expected to be changed w.e.f year 1999-200)

Back/Up
Some scholarships and free-studentships are awarded by the University to
encourage the Post Graduate students in different subjects for which MERIT is the primary
criterion.
In addition, a considerable number of students will be in a position to get benefit of
Government Merit Scholarships for which they can directly apply. The details will
regarding terms and conditions of various Scholarships will be notified to the students
from time to time, during the academic year.
Back/Up
Surat has a moderate climate, Winter clothing need not be heavy. You can go through
the winter with a
sweater
or a light pull-over. The University has limited Hostel accommodation. The
Department tries to see
that
as many of out station students are accommodated in University hostel as possible,
but no guarantee
in
this regard can be given. Students can get jointly shared rented accommodation in
nearby colonies.
